Death sentence to 4 Years!!

Hashem Aghajari was the history professor at Tarbiat Moddarres University in Tehran. Now he is sentenced to four years in jail and also he is barred from running for office or occupying a government post for five years. Last November, he was condemned to death, banned from teaching for 10 years, exiled for eight years to three remote cities and sentenced to receive 74 lashes.
I always think about this issue whether human beings are created to be scarified for Religions or Religions are sent for human beings evolution! How can we kill people (or any other punishments) for religion? Why some people think that God does not have power to keep his religions?
